Will I always be second fiddle?

Posted by: PhotographerOne at 2009-05-03

I had no idea what to expect when I married my wife and welcomed my now 9 yr.old stepson into my life.

His dad doesn't play a big enough role in his life or not in the way I feel I would if the roles were reversed so I am trying to pick up the slack. My problem is that my wife doesn't want me to discipline him in anyway shape form or fashion, She doesn't believe in spanking and I guess I am like my old fashioned dad was, you know the kind that would put the fear of a leather belt in your mind though a spanking from him never went past the palm of his hand, it was just the thought of it that made me straighten up and fly right so to speak LOL!!!

She babies her son like he is still 4 or 5, spoiled rotten and pretty much gives in to what he wants. Says that she is trying to give him all the things that she didn't get when she was little. Right now I feel that I don't have a wife as much as I have two live in people with me. I feel I am constantly taking a back seat to them. I thought a marriage was supposed to be 50/50?

She prefers to sleep with him until he falls asleep then she may get up and watch TV herself ( she is a nightowl I might add ) and may only come to our bed around 3 in the morning if then.

Can somebody talk some sense into me??? Please ask me more questions so you can get a better idea of what I am dealing with and you can have a better chance at helping me.

Thanks..
