Me, like probably everyone that comes to this site wants to be better at being a dad, and helping their family enjoy their time together. I want the best for all my kids, even my step son, but I know so little about being a good dad. I feel like "Peter Griffin" from the show the family guy. I might know more then him, but not much.

I am in Arizona and am trying to find some kind of group of step dads that I could meet with to bounce some ideas off of, I guess like a support group. If anyone knows anything, please let me know.

No one comes pre-programmed to be a StepDad or to be a StepMom. For that matter, other than the information encoded in our "genetic makeup," or what we call "parental instincts," we all have the joy (and challenges) of learning to be a step parent "on the job."
It is no surpise that to some folks, it feels like trying to align the chasis of your SUV while off-roading on the mountain side.
So, how do we cope with the unknown? I guess it all boils down to this --if we reach deep down into our consciousness, and do what seems like the right (responsible/loving) thing to do, we would know intuitively how to navigate the rough waters of being a step dad.
At times it may feel like "white water rafting" without a pedal and no end in sight; but as kids grow up and mature (we all have been there, haven't we?), we do discover calm water. Until then, enjoy the white-water rafting!
